7) What canvas do you use?

We use a beautiful canvas sourced from the USA. It is a 100% acid free matte cotton canvas. It is smooth, bright white and offers excellent reproduction for both photographs and fine art. Being 100% cotton, very small seeds are present in the surface of the canvas. Our canvas showcases exceptionally dense black and colors, is water resistant and is used by thousands of artists around the world. It is significantly heavier than the canvas being used by many of our competitors. Lighter grade canvases are generally cheaper to make, but are usually of lesser quality. In our opinion, there is no higher quality printing canvas available anywhere in the world.

8) Why use cotton rather than the cheaper cotton/polyester canvas prints?

Many canvas printers will try to tell you that the cotton/polyester canvas they use is “the best quality on the market”. This is simply not true. Most of the fine art museums and galleries around the world are using the same 100% cotton, premium quality canvas that we use for your artwork or photo. This is because it offers better texture and colour, as well as lasting longer. Cotton/polyester canvas is cheaper than 100% cotton canvas. Cotton canvas is much more difficult to print and stretch, but offers a better end result. This is why we use only 100% cotton canvas, despite the higher cost.

14) Can you outline the process for creating i Love heART™ Prints?

First, we enhance / prepare your image or artwork for printing. This includes ensuring the colour is correct, resizing your image and performing any editing work required. We then print your image on our premium quality canvas, using inks that have been independently tested against UV fading. If your print is large, then we will print a small colour sample and full size strip from your image to ensure that the resolution and colour are perfect. We then let your print dry before spraying with a protective coating that provides protection against moisture, dust, UV light and inquisitive fingers. Once dry, we make a frame for your print using our 1st grade, kiln dried meranti timber. Your print is then stretched over this frame and neatly stapled at the back. We then carefully trim the excess canvas at the back of the frame, and cover the edge of the canvas with acid-free framers tape. This protects against dust, and offers a neat, professional finish for your print. Finally, we insert quality hooks and cord to allow you to hang your print.

15) What inks do you use?

The inks we use have been tested and used by over 10,000 customers worldwide. They offer an excellent colour gamut (range of colours) and resistance to fading. They have been independently tested by the Wilhelm Institute to last up to 75 years before noticeable fading. Our Black and white inks are actually carbon based, meaning that they will resist fading for 200+ years. They are specifically designed for printing on canvas, and offer an incredible tonal range and allow us to create perfectly neutral black and white prints.

16) Is it really essential to spray coat the prints with a protective coating?

Yes. Some canvas printers will tell you that this is not an essential part of the process. Usually, this is because they are trying to save money rather than add this vital protection to your canvas art.
